A lot of public reviews of AI photo tools this month are about how the tool is paid for rather than what it does: credits that expire, renewals that bill again, and upgrade prices that come back every year. A recent example is the one-star reviews on Evoto's Trustpilot page (https://www.trustpilot.com/review/evoto.ai?stars=1), where several photographers write about credit balances and plan changes. Other tools get similar comments about yearly upgrade prices.
So a real question for the people here: how do you want to pay for editing and culling software?
- Pay per photo or credit, so cost follows the work
- A monthly or yearly subscription
- One purchase with updates included
- Something else
And what would make a credit model feel fair to you? Expiry dates, rollover, or a refund of unused credits?
For transparency, imagic is a one-time purchase and I run this forum, so I am not neutral. I would still like to hear what you think works and what has burned you.
