What it does
Preview only: an approximate layout from GPS, not a georeferenced map or a stitch (say so if you show it to the user). Frames are placed at their GPS positions, sized from altitude and focal length (or the median spacing) and rotated by gimbal yaw, with feathered overlaps (blend "seamlines" cuts them like a stitcher instead, which shows seams as edges). show "before", "after" or "both" side by side; "after" is the applied harmonize, or a dry run when none is applied. max_size is the PNG's long edge in pixels. group picks a separate flight or area (0 = the largest). Returns the PNG path, a seam heatmap PNG path, and seam_score_before/after (mean per-pixel brightness disagreement between overlapping frames, in stops). Look at the PNG; if seams remain, re-run harmonize_series with a higher smoothness, or lower it if broad light changes were flattened.

Asking for it
You do not call this by name. You say what you want, and the agent picks the tool:
Point imagic at my shoot and tell me what you find.

Where it runs
On your machine. imagic's MCP server is a local process that your AI client starts; the photos never leave your disk and nothing is uploaded. That is true of every tool in the reference, including this one.
To call it you need an MCP client connected to imagic. Setup takes about three minutes for Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and ten others.
Give your AI the whole pipeline
preview_mosaic is one of 30 tools in imagic Max. The free 500-export trial includes all of them.
