Steps
1. Check which chip your Mac has
Click the Apple menu, then About This Mac. If the Chip line reads Apple M1, M2, M3 or M4 (with a suffix such as Pro or Max), your Mac is Apple Silicon. If it reads an Intel Core processor name, it is an Intel Mac.
2. Download the matching installer
imagic.ink/desktop offers Apple Silicon as the primary macOS button, with a separate "Intel Mac? Download the x86_64 build" link underneath it for Intel Macs.
3. Activate with your existing key
Whichever build you installed, enter the same licence key on first launch. There is no separate key per architecture, and no extra charge for downloading the wrong one first and switching.
Frequently asked questions
I downloaded the wrong build, what now?
Just download the correct one for your chip from imagic.ink/desktop and activate it with the same key. Nothing is lost and there is no additional cost.
Do both builds have the same features?
Yes. Earlier Intel builds had a gap where the first brush, mask or heal stroke could crash the app; that was fixed in version 1.4.4, which bundled what those tools need for Intel Macs.
Does Apple Silicon run noticeably faster?
Apple Silicon Macs are generally faster at the kind of image processing imagic does, but we have not published a formal benchmark between the two, so take that as a general expectation rather than a measured number.
