Opening imagic on a Mac for the first time

imagic's Mac build is signed and notarized by Apple, the same check the Mac App Store itself requires. The one-time prompt you may see on first launch is not Gatekeeper rejecting an unsigned app; it is macOS's standard one-time check for anything installed outside the App Store, and it only asks once.

Steps

1. Right-click, not double-click, the first time

In Applications, right-click (or Control-click) imagic and choose Open, rather than double-clicking. A dialog appears; click Open to confirm.

2. Still blocked? Allow it in Privacy & Security

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the Security section, and click Open Anyway next to the imagic message. Then launch imagic again.

3. After that, open normally

Once you have opened it this way, every later launch works with an ordinary double-click.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the Windows installer warning?

No. Windows shows its warning because imagic's installer is not yet signed with a paid certificate, which is in progress. The Mac build is already signed and notarized by Apple; the one-time Mac prompt is only about installing outside the App Store, not about trust.

Is it safe to click Open Anyway?

Yes. Notarization means Apple already scanned the app for known malicious software before you ever see this screen; the prompt is a standard step for any app distributed directly rather than through the App Store.
