Licence

Move your imagic licence to a new computer

A licence key activates on one computer at a time, by design, not as a restriction you need to work around. Activating it on a new device automatically deactivates the previous one, so moving to a new computer, or reinstalling Windows or macOS on the same one, is a two-minute job with nothing to request from us first.

Steps

1. Install imagic on the new computer

Download the right installer for that machine from imagic.ink/desktop (Windows, Apple Silicon Mac, or Intel Mac).

2. Open imagic and enter your existing key

On first launch it asks for a product key. Paste the same key from your original purchase email, it is not single-use.

3. The old computer deactivates on its own

You do not need to uninstall imagic from the old machine or notify us. The next time it checks in, it will ask for the key again, because the newest activation now owns it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to contact support to switch computers?

No. Activating the key on the new machine is the entire process, there is no support ticket, approval step or waiting period.

Can my old and new computer both run imagic at the same time?

No, only the most recently activated device stays active. The older one keeps working offline for up to 14 days since its last successful check, then asks for the key again.

I'm just reinstalling my operating system on the same PC, is that different?

No, it works the same way. Reinstall imagic and enter your key again; it activates the "new" installation the same as moving to an actual new computer.

Is there a limit on how many times I can move my licence?

There is no stated limit. The design is meant for a working photographer who changes or upgrades machines over the years the licence is valid for.
